What's Love Got to Do With It

I snapped this photo and Tina Turner's song rushed into my head....it took me back to singing this song as loudly as possible in an elevator at MSU with new girl friends that I had met in 1984 at a Summer Institute for the Arts and Sciences. She had released it in May of that year. We sang it at the top of our lungs but had absolutely no idea what the innuendo or suggestion was of the song. It was just a great song to sing and we were innocent to its meaning. In thinking of this photo of Chris and our annual Christmas card bee, where we setup on either side of our dining room table with a wide selection of cards, stamps and holiday stickers; love has everything to do with it at this mature stage in our lives. Chris has absolutely no idea that I have taken this photo, and like our singing, is innocent of me taking it. He is funnier at what he writes and is constantly stopping me, looking up with his reading glasses lowered, to share something funny he wants to add to his notes in the card. That is love manifested right there. It's not diamonds and roses, it's looking up from working on a Christmas card and sharing a laugh with the one you love and thereby extending that love to the person you are thinking of in that moment.
